  Iowa recently passed a law that significantly curtails the powers of its public sector unions. Specifically, the law drastically limits the subjects over which those unions can bargain, primarily to wages. 13 Apr 2016 Wisconsin Right-To-Work Law Ruled Unconstitutional by State Court Judge

Another state’s right-to-work law has been challenged in court and ruled unconstitutional – at least at the initial stage in the case. As we reported last year, Wisconsin Gov. 09 Mar 2015 Wisconsin Becomes the 25th Right-to-Work State

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker today signed the legislation which now makes Wisconsin the 25th state to approve a Right-to-Work Act.  Wisconsin follows Indiana and Michigan as the two Midwestern states which recently approved similar measures.   The Right-to-Work Acts make it illegal for private sector companies to enter into Collective Bargaining Agreements which contain Union Shop clauses which require all workers within the bargaining unit to be members of and pay dues to labor unions….

25 Feb 2015 Wisconsin Senate to Vote on Right-to-Work Bill

The Wisconsin Senate is expected to vote Wednesday afternoon on a bill that could make it the 25th right-to-work state.  News outlets are reporting union protesters were upset on Tuesday when the Republican Chairman of Senate labor committee cut short the public hearing on the bill.  USA Today reports, “Dozens of people who had waited all day to speak flew into a rage, hurling profanities at the three GOP lawmakers on the panel.”  The full…
